Rental Agreement Terms & Conditions
Note: These terms are in addition to your rights under the Competition and Consumer Act and relevant State laws.
All references to “the car” mean the rental vehicle provided under this agreement.
The Lessee (You) Agree To:
Return the car to the rental depot at the agreed time.
Not refuse alcohol or drug testing, and never drive under the influence.
Ensure that you and any approved co-driver hold a valid driver’s licence.
Accept responsibility for any breaches committed by an authorised co-driver.
Not allow anyone other than authorised drivers to operate the car.
Only drive on sealed roads.
Avoid driving through rivers, creeks, flooded roads, or any body of water.
Avoid intentional damage to the car and not transport surfboards or other items on the roof.
Pay a $595 fee if the car key is not returned.
Return the car with a full tank of unleaded petrol (shortages charged at $3.50 per litre).
Return the car clean, or pay a $150 cleaning fee.
Not smoke, vape, or transport pets inside the car (breaches incur a $200 cleaning fee).
Pay a $120 call-out fee for each Echo Rentals roadside assistance service.
Pay a $10 Echo Rental handling administration fee per traffic infringement/toll notice, in addition to the fine/notice
Comply with our Fair Use Policy (e.g., the car cannot be used for security patrols or courier services).
Pay a $400 fee to extend usage to areas within interstate.
If the Car is Damaged, You Agree To:
Remain at the accident scene until Police arrive.
Collect all details and assist in recovery of damages.
Not admit liability or apportion blame.
Submit a Police Report and our Damage Report Form within 24 hours.
Not have the car towed without our permission.
Cover the full cost of damage or theft if the key is not returned.
Costs & Charges:
By signing this agreement, you authorise us to charge your debit/credit card for:
All agreed rental fees and charges.
- All our vehicles require a security deposit and for long term rentals, an additional one week upfront deposit is required including bond. Security deposits can range from $250 - $1000.
$5,000 per damage incident (regardless of fault) including windscreen, tyres, lost Satnav, or lost keys.
All damages resulting from a breach of these conditions (e.g., failure to collect accident details, wilful damage, theft with missing keys).
Special Conditions:
If, within 30 minutes of signing, you raise concerns about the car or this agreement, we are entitled to cancel the rental and refund your deposit.
Our business hours are displayed on our website. We are closed on Public Holidays. The rental period continues until the car is checked in during business hours.
Each 24-hour block counts as 1 rental day. Additional time is charged at one-tenth of the daily rate per hour (e.g., 26 hours = 1.2 days).
The car may be fitted with a tracking device. If the vehicle is not returned on time, it may be treated as stolen, and we may take recovery action including police involvement and distribution of personal details.
All transactions are processed in Australian Dollars (AUD).
- Sydney use only, any vehicle within our rental fleet is not allowed to exceed a 2 hour radius out of sydney, if your rental use breaches this rule, we will cancel your reservation.
